A monthly check-up keeps your printer accurate and extends its working life. Set aside a longer session each month to inspect the parts that need less frequent attention.

Monthly Maintenance Checklist

1. Deep clean the carriage area — carefully remove accumulated dust and ink residue; check the printhead contacts and cables for any looseness or damage.
2. Inspect mechanical parts — check rails, belts and gears; clean and lubricate them only with the products and steps specified in your manual.
3. Check the encoder strip/sensor area — a dirty encoder strip is a common cause of print shifts; clean it gently as described in your manual.
4. Verify alignment and color — run printhead alignment and print a color test to confirm output accuracy.
5. Check power and environment — confirm stable voltage supply, good grounding and that the working environment is within the recommended range.
6. Review consumables — plan ahead for ink, dampers, cleaning supplies and other consumables that may need replacing soon.
